After completing my gap year, I returned to academia at the University of New Hampshire feeling more prepared, focused, and motivated to work toward a long-term career. While adjusting to the slower pace of academic life compared to full-time work, I found myself seeking meaningful ways to stay engaged and involved outside the classroom.
After attending UNH’s club fair and not finding an organization that aligned with my interests, I reflected on my previous experience with Streetwear Society and identified an opportunity to create something new. Taking initiative, I co-founded the Fashion Club alongside one of the most reliable collaborators I have met.
Drawing on lessons from prior organizations and applying the leadership, planning, and consistency skills I developed during my gap year, we built the club from the ground up. The organization grew rapidly, reaching over 1,500 followers and hosting events with attendance exceeding 600 students. We collaborated with both on-campus and external organizations, coordinating logistics such as parking, food, and payment processing.
Following our first highly successful semester, we formalized the organization by establishing an executive board through a structured interview process. Today, the Fashion Club operates with a 12-member executive team and continues to host events centered on sustainability, fashion, and community engagement across the university.
